  • Wonder (v): thắc mắc

2. Why do you like the language you want to learn?
I’m currently studying Korean, which is very popular among my generation. I chose to learn it because I’m a K-pop enthusiast, so I watched a lot of Korean dramas, and slowly I fell in love with the language, and Korean will greatly benefit my career in the future .

  • Enthusiast (n): người đam mê

3. Do you think it’s challenging to learn a new language?
Learning a new language can be very challenging, which makes it rewarding. Being able to communicate in a different language can be a huge perk. Learners can have a brighter career path and more opportunities to grow.

  • Rewarding (adj): có lợi ích
  • Perk (n): đặc quyền
  • Career path (n) con đường sự nghiệp

  • Bucket list (n) danh sách việc phải làm trong đời

II. IELTS Speaking Part 2 – An interesting talk or speech
Describe an interesting talk or speech.
You should say:
– When you heard it,
– Where you heard it,
– What it was about,
– And explain why you think it was interesting.
Today, I’m going to talk about a fascinating speech at an event that I attended, and it left a lasting impression on me. Last week, I was invited as an alumnus to participate in a conference at my old university. I was busy, but I decided to join it because it had been a long time since I visited my old school, so I missed it.

  • Alumnus (n): cựu sinh viên
  • Lasting impression (n): ấn tượng còn mãi

A famous environmental activist hosted the conference, and the topic was about the responsibility of each individual to protect our planet. She started the talk by giving out fascinating facts about pollution, such as how many tons of trash are discarded daily or how long it takes for different types of material to decompose. After that, she showed us step-by-step guides on how to help the environment by doing small things.

  • environmental activist (n): nhà hoạt động môi trường
  • discard (v): loại bỏ
  • decompose (v): phân huỷ
  • step-by-step (adj): từng bước

Those facts blew my mind since I did not care much about the environment before. After that talk, I began to think about it and started to reduce the amount of trash I throw away each day, and I started to take small actions like bringing my own cup instead of using single-use cups and donating my old clothes.

III. IELTS Speaking Part 3 – An interesting talk or speech

1. What benefits does the internet bring to communication?
The internet is vital for us nowadays; without it, it would be tough for us to communicate because we depend on it. Most young people don’t even remember their parent’s phone numbers due to the fact that their primary means of communication now are social media apps like Messenger or Zalo.

  • Primary (adj): chính

  • 2. Which one is better, being a communicator or a listener?
  • Being a good listener is vital because to become a good communicator, you need to be good at listening to understand the whole context before you start speaking so that you can share ideas more effectively.
  • Context (n): ngữ cảnh

3. Will Vietnamese people feel nervous when it comes to public speaking?
Most people find public speaking challenging, not only Vietnamese. Being confident in front of a crowd to share your ideas requires a lot of courage and practice. Everyone feels a little bit anxious before giving their talk, but once you are used to it, it will be exciting.

  • Courage (n): lòng can đảm
  • Anxious (adj): lo âu
